What better way to embrace the wild west than to mountain town hop, pinkies up.
Picture this, folks… you escaped the mundane by running off into the woods and rolling out a sleeping bag under the stars. The bolstering laughs of your girlfriends cut through the silence around you as beers are passed around the campfire. Tomorrow’s itinerary holds a full day of backcountry exploration followed by fine dining and bar hopping down the hill.
What can I say… Mountain townin’ is the Lady Folk way. From fleeing to the forest to switching the Chacos for cowgirl boots and giving the mechanical bull a whirl; I’ve become Bonnie & Clyde with some of the most electric towns the west could offer. & I want just the same for you; whether your a regular or heading out West soon!
Lock arms with me & explore the top 5 Lady Folk coded mountain towns.
Bozeman
First up on our mountain town guide is my pretty neighbor up north, Bozeman, Montana. Here in the West, we call on Bozeman for its western, mountain town feel with an elevated touch. A spirited place where outdoor love affairs run deep, Chacos make the fine dining scene, and cowgals can still flaunt a fine fur or two.
You see, I ran away to Bozeman on a solo work retreat to ring in the new year and had a damn ball! That’s the thing about Big Sky Country – she’ll lift your spirits with poetic landscapes, friendly folks, and deep wine glasses. Bozeman is one of those spots that never leaves you (or entices you to pack your bags for the long haul!).
Settle In
RSVP Motel
First on the itinerary is the swanky RSVP Motel. If you’re a starlette for branding and Western hospitality this repurposed roadside motel is dolled up in vintage finds, witty antics, and funky colors. Fun fact – I actually found immense inspiration for Lady Folk from RSVP. Something about their warm essence, thoughtful touches, and unapologetic undertones just does it for me. The RSVP is the perfect spot for you to rejuvenate before taking off into the wild (& don’t forget to grab a glass of complimentary champagne upon arrival!).
P.s. if you find yourself needing a nearby snack, check out the Farmer’s Daughter Cafe – a conjoined eatery with a locally curated menu and lively work space for gettin’ business done.
Get Out There
Bridger Bowl
Now time to get into what we really came for right? The excitement, the thrill and those Montana freshies. Bridger Bowl is one of the most revered resorts in all of North America, but carries a local mountain vibe us backroad babes crave. Rally your fit, hit the slopes, and don’t forget to warm up with a spicy bloody in-between!
Pinkies Up
Blackbird Restaurant
Before the high country hanger sets in, walk your boots on over to Blackbird – a high-end Italian restaurant with cuisine as picture worthy as the dazzling interior. From scratch pastas to a tailored wine list, everything in this corner joint is worth savoring. With service that leaves you feeling like you’re in the arms of your nana! Which is all we can really ask from any mountain town dining experience, isn’t it?
Plonk
Main street is exactly what it sounds like in Bozeman… an unruly strip of pavement you’ll find yourself frequenting often, and Plonk is exactly where I would direct you once the sun settles below the horizon. Whether you’re coming off an adventure or you’re just out with the girls, cowboy on over to Plonk – an upscale wine bar with the sexiest bites I’ve come across yet. Highly recommend sinking your teeth into a steak upon bellying up.

Slangover Vintage
Bozeman is a town abundant with must-have apres fits, western wear, and trendy brands; but let’s shift things to the rad vintage collections in Montana with Slangover Vintage. This funky, reimagined thrift shop is one of my favorite frequents in Bozeman for the storytelling and swanky one-of-one treasures (DUH!). From cowgirl boots and graphic tees to something colorful to call attention in; promise you’ll walk away with a souvenir at Slangover.
Revolvr Menswear
My recent visit to Bozeman introduced me to this menswear staple. Boyfriend was left at home, but I just knew I needed to snag him a souvenir. Let me tell you… I’ve never had so much damn fun shopping through men’s threads. The sleek modern feel of Revolvr made this Lady Folk want to smoke a cigar and curl up with some leather! Revolvr has mastered combining modern menswear with mountain rugged style. Carrying brands like RVCA, BlackRock, Coal and Druthers; there’s something for every Big Sky gentleman here.
Laramie
Next up on our list is Laramie, Wyoming. The small college town that I called home for five years while I pursued my Bachelors of Science in Marketing with a minor in Entrepreneurship at the University of Wyoming. Laramie (AKA Laradise) sits at an elevation of 7220, leads the way in artistic expression in Wyoming, and never seeks to be anything but more deeply itself. This mountain town holds the most heartfelt, purpose led community of bright folks who genuinely care about not only each other, but their greater impact. Something you want to be a part of. My guide wouldn’t be complete without her.
Settle In
AirBnb
There’s plenty of fine hotels in the area, but if you’re really looking for a local experience in Laradise then be sure to check out this cutie AirBnb,. This has been one of the best hideaways to slow down with in this quaint little town.
Get Out There
Vedauwoo
Vedauwoo serves as the outdoor oasis of Laramie. From the natural rock formations and surrounding hiking trails to the wildlife sightings; she’s bound to draw you in and convince you to stay awhile. Plus Veadawoo is only a 20 min scenic drive from town!
Snowy Range
The “Snowies” opens its arms to all wanderers that dare to go further. During my college days, we not only got to know one another like old friends, but she let me in on some local secrets. One of the best hikes I’ve ever taken is the Medicine Bow Peak hike – an advanced trail that guides you over the entire peak from one end to another. Start early, pack snacks and sunscreen, and keep your camera close. The views are unforgettable.
Pinkies Up
Coal Creek Coffee
With any good college town, there’s a plethora of cozy coffee shops and small dine-ins to befriend. BUT If you’re looking to sip with the locals in a cozy downtown environment, Coal Creek is the place. Indulge in slow roasted espresso or go all out with the french toast – whatever you choose you’ll be back. Promise.
P.s. Coal Creek’s connected tap room allows you to caffeinate AND beer thirty! Whatever you damn fancy!
Crowbar & Grill
Be sure to get down at Crowbar and Grill. I bartended at this gastropub for four years and let me tell you… I stayed so long for a reason. 14 different brews on tap, PAD THAI FRIES (which may or may not be my death row meal), steamroller pizza and local burgers that’ll have you throwin’ back to a July backyard BBQ. Not to mention, this is the spot I can thank for my mean bloody mary recipe (and my table dancing tendencies after a glass of fine whiskey!).
Get Your Shop On
Poppy’s
Feigning for flowers & fine goods? Walk on over to Poppy’s – a darling floral shop & women’s boutique owned by a dear friend of mine, Rachel, who started her business up on corporate rebellion and blind faith only for it to become a staple in the community. The loveliest place to escape for the afternoon!
Night Heron
For my page flippin’ baddies, go check out Night Heron – a bookstore, coffee shop lovechild, (it doesn’t get any better than this). Here you can order a hazelnut double shot with skim then get lost in the shelves.
Pour Ta Coffee
Pour Ta Coffee is also a Laramie must as it’s owned by one of my dearest friends. This small business from heaven is built on: single pour overs, love, collaboration and big dreams. Support Pour Ta by buying their roasted coffee that’ll bring out your inner Butch Cassidy (their words not mine!) or make sure to keep an eye out around your local coffee shops. They partner with local brands all over the US to prepare and package personalize pour overs. Talk about pinkies up!
Jackson Hole
Jackson Hole, the cowboy caviar of the west. The mountain town of all western mountain towns. Unparalleled skiing, mountain biking and adventuring. Breathtaking views that literally bring you closer to Heaven, ramblin rodeos and a downtown that is just as charming as boot kickin’ rowdy. I wouldn’t be pulling your leg if I mentioned I’ve danced around the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar with a cute cowboy or two. Jackson carries so much Wyoming heritage. & as much as we pick on the peter pans, California transplants (who think Jackson is all of Wyoming), and the tourists who put buffalo in their cars for safekeeping… there’s truly is no place like it. Jackson is spiritual – she makes you feel closer to your higher power, Reminds you of your place in the world. Also can I get a yeehaw to cowboys in Wranglers?!
Settle In
Anvil Hotel
If you find yourself looking for somewhere to slumber in this picturesque western town, look no further than the Anvil Hotel in downtown Jackson. A modern hotel brought up by a local where the branding is as strong as the bourbon. Fluffy down pillows doll up the “please stay forever” beds and handmade Woolrich blankets make it easy to say, “Yes!”. Don’t miss this cutie patootie out in the country!
Get Out There
Phelps Lake
Let’s talk about Phelps Lake, my favorite watering hole. Phelps Lake can offer you anything from hiking and cliff jumping to wildlife watching and afternoon picnicking. A true Jackson Hole chef’s kiss.
Pinkies Up
Glorietta Trattoria
Once your belly starts telling you that you’ve had enough fun, trot on over to Gloriettas for the best Italian in all of Wyoming. There’s hand-rolled pasta, there’s wine, there’s candlelit chemistry followed by an urge to drink more wine. I mean… what more could you ask for in a romantic night out?
Persephone
Who doesn’t love Persephone’s? But seriously, this darling, Parisian chic cafe will transport you from the Tetons to France in a heartbeat! From homemade baked goods and brekafast to a divine selection of coffees and teas, this nationally recognized, Western haven will hook you.
Million Dollar Cowboy Bar
Once the sun sets below the Tetons, check out Million Dollar Cowboy Bar for a damn good time. I won’t spoil it all for you… but you’ll want to bring your square dancing boots and keep an eye out for the bar stools made out of saddles. Go ahead and let that cowboy buy you a drink ‘round here!

Midnight Lunch
Midnight Lunch is a KEEPER. If you don’t already rep this little mountain town gem; allow me to introduce you to your new obsession. Think of this boutique as the girls’ girl of boutiques. She hugs you upon entering, hands you a cold Pabst and brings you over to a funky, colorful collection that is now your entire personality. From cool prints to apres threads; the Lunchettes always add to cart. P.S. don’t miss their ride-or-die trucker hat bar!
Penny Lane
Penny Lane feels like your long lost bestie that lets you raid her closet & ALWAYS has an accessory for that! Modern cowgirl meets femme in this Jackson staple, and I can’t get enough of this girl gang. Penny Lane truly has something for every ramblin’ woman; whether you’re strutting town square, apresing like royalty, or keepin’ it cute on the couch!
Lander
Lander has become a good friend of mine. A true town of the quirky misfits who’ve found home among the winding rivers, snow-capped peaks, and red rock seas. Lander and I connected after my move back to Wyoming, and since then she’s been my go-to weekend getaway. From her charming energy and spirited locals to unparalleled outdoor recreation; this small town has captured my heart. Lander is as wild as they come. Slow down here and let those who’ve walked the land and made art from the wide-open spaces before us reveal themselves to you!
Settle In
Pitch the Tent, Folks
A Wyoming native never gives up her camping spots… if you know you know. Maybe one day I’ll take you along with me. If not, I highly recommend shooting back some whiskey and befriending some locals upon your arrival! If they think you’re Lander material… you may just be in luck for a point in the right direction!
Get Out There
Popo Agie Falls
Check out Popo Agie Falls on your way up the Wind River Range. Home to a hiking trail that will surely transcend into a core memory for you and your crew. About an hour in, you’ll find roaring waterfalls, natural slides, and small pools of still water you can strip down into if that tickles your fancy!
Sinks Canyon
Of course, it’s a must to check out good ol’ Sinks Canyon. Sinks is the main attraction for good reason. Adventure beckons at every turn, the views are pristine, and to become fully immersed is the only option. Whether you’re rock climbing, wetting a line or simply looking to unplug; look no further. The Tetons gets the hype in Wyoming; but the Winds are just as entrancing!
Good Eats
Cowfish
Cowfish does not have a cult following by accident. This elevated, high country eatery boasts romantic aesthetics, friendly staff, and a local menu you’re sure to crave miles away. I highly recommend ordering the beef short tip pasta alongside a pepper martini (and bringing me along for your plus one!).
Lander Bar
What fun is a mountain town without a folksy dive bar to pair her up with? Lander bar is one of the few bars you’ll come across in this modern age that truly holds the western spirit that brings out your inner cowgirl. & not like a coachelle cowgirl… a Wyoming cowgirl. I mean, the bar was literally a saloon in the early 1900’s so the spirit of the west is locked and loaded among the worn bartop, antique wall decor, and mounted wildlife or two. Come for the scene and stay for the local brews and wild AF locals.
P.S. In the summertime, they have a sweeping back patio that is always a party. Be sure to check out the rotating live music!

Wild Iris Mountain Sports
Hit the best spot in town for mountain sports gear at Wild Iris! Established in 1990, Wild Iris strives to serve the genuine outdoor enthusiasts with custom gear, rentals, trail maps and more!
Artist Co Op
I strongly encourage you folks to check out the Alchemy: Artist Cooperative. This is a retail store front on the main street of Lander that partners with local creatives to showcase their artistic expression, culture and artistic perspective. Here at Lady Folk, we always believe that the best way to get to know a place is through their local creations.
Steamboat
Steamboat Springs, Colorado is a bucket list destination for mountain town mavens. Not only did I frequent this mountain pueblo often as a college ski bum, I also spent my 32nd birthday with Ms. Steamboat Springs. Fit with stout brews, lively culture, and kickass mountain adventure; Steamboat is an easy “hell yes!”!
Settle In
Rabbit Ears Motel
Right through the center of downtown Steamboat you won’t be able to miss the Rabbit Ears Motel. A 1950s renovated home away from home will welcome you with vintage aesthetics, neon signs, and close proximity to all Steamboat has to offer. If you’re more of the “we only sleep in our motel room” kind and want a true mountain town experience; this is it.
Get Out There
Steamboat Resort
Of course steamboat is a ski town and with any ski town comes a great local ski resort. Steamboat is a vast mountain great for all levels of skiing/snowboarding; whether it’s your first day out or you’re a seasoned shred queen. Known for it’s Champagne Powder, iconic chutes, and vibrant village; this resort is bound to catch you in all your worth. Be sure to schedule in extra time for village cold ones!
Strawberry Park Hot Springs
Aside from epic ski hills, let’s talk about Strawberry Hot Springs – my #1 natural hot springs in the West. Strawberry Springs is nestled in the mountains – nodding to it’s tranquility and true healing essence. However, if the 30 min drive from town seems like a stretch, opt to stay at one of their charming cabins or rooms on site! My boyfriend & I visited to celebrate my 32 cycles around the sun, and decided to hold off ‘til dark because clothing is optional… & WHY THE HELL NOT! If you do one thing in Steamboat, please runaway here!
Pinkies Up
Big Iron Coffee
You’ve got a few options of eats down in Steamboat but the first stop in the morning is always going to be coffee, yes? So first on the map is Big Iron Coffee. Don’t worry, if you’re tummy doesn’t want to wait for a breakfast after your steamin’ latte you can also snag a filling breakfast burrito or bagel for the road. The coffee bean here is local, which you can never go wrong with, and the vibe is so true to Steamboat it’s uncanny. Dressed up in local art and the rustic vibes, Big Iron has become my morning ritual in The Boat.
Mambo
After a day on the slopes, bodies are demanding to be spoiled and carb loaded. With that, I’m going to direct you over to Mambo. In case you folks haven’t caught on that Italian is one of my all time favorite cuisines on vacation – Mambo is another chic Italian restaurant fit for a post ski meal or a romantic dinner date out (the ambiance can fuel both scenarios). Order the cacio e pepe or tagliatelle bolognese with a bottle of wine to share!

Old Town Square
Steamboat is a special old town in the way that franchises take the backseat. This town runs local and Old Town Square is a good place to begin. You’ll find western apparel, baked goods, mountain sports gear and trendy boutiques all in the same plaza (the same plaza that holds Big Iron where you got your coffee earlier!).
Rumour Designs Home & Cafe
Another really fantastic must see is Rumour Designs Home & Cafe, where you can shop anything from statement art to chic new kitchenware. RD Home & Cafe operates as an interior design showroom, storefront and cafe, which sounds like a doozy but is really just Christmas for folks like you and myself. Order a brewed coffee and sip while you browse a new aesthetic for your living room or simply pick up a local choice of coffee beans here. The freedom is yours!
Look, whether you’re craving a solo weekend getaway along the backroads or plotting a weekend girls trip; one of these five towns is going to wrap her arms around you. From the bustling main streets to the beautiful oblivion of the wild landscapes; these Lady Folk coded mountain towns are sure to inspire your most heartfelt giddy up. Go far and be happy, you electric folks you.
